On February 20, 2020, Prof. Sebastian Engell from TUDO visited NEERI in Chennai to discuss the development of algae-based waste water treatment and the possibilities to use the LOTUS sensor in such processes.

The photo shows a small-scale test plant at NEERI. In the coming months, NEERI will set up a much larger plant on the rooftop of their building to investigate algae-based waste water treatment.

Before his visit to NEERI, Prof. Engell gave an endowment lecture at Anna University’s MIT Campus on “New developments in process control and real-time optimization”.

He also attended the 6th International IFAC ACODS conference at MIT Madras and gave a plenary lecture on “ Robust Performance Optimizing NMPC by Multistage Optimization”.
