Water tankers are the most common water distribution system in certain rural areas in India due to the lack of pipe networks. In the framework of the LOTUS project one use case is focusing its work on the water tanker distribution system in Bengaluru, India.

It is in this framework that our partners Dr. Ravindra Gudi from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India, Prof. Senthilmurugan Subbiah from Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, India and Prof. Chrysi Laspidou from University of Thessaly, Greece jointly released a scientific publication entitled “An operational scheduling framework for tanker-based distribution systems under uncertainty”.

In this paper, authors developed a model for the scheduling and optimisation of tanker-based water supply and treatment facility operations under uncertainty.
