Tanker trucks are often used in developing countries to supply clean and pure water in different regions. In order to efficiently operate these tanker trucks coordination between water suppliers, treatment plant operations and user groups need to be tight.

Our project partners from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati released a scientific publication which proposes a novel formulation to assist decision-making for optimising tanker-based water distribution systems and treatment operations, and to minimise the total operating cost.

Through this novel framework “all of the constraints related to the water demand, supply operations, and environmental and social aspects are honored while supplying water to a maximum number of users.”
